Amongst Few Cafe, Umm Suqeim
amongst few unveils a cafe space that merges seamlessly into the neighborhood and extends the brand’s aesthetics into the lifestyle and food categories. Prior to the opening of this full-fledged coffee shop meets creative space, the brand had garnered much attention for its ability to merge many different worlds and curate its very own amongst few identity.
The cafe sits adjacent to the amongst few brick and mortar store in Jumeirah 1 and is surrounded by a number of symbolic landmarks, including Union House (where the historical agreement documents were signed that created the Arab world's historic federation of states), Jumeriah mosque and beach.
The Dubai-based space features the architectural direction of amongst few, with founders Flo Moser and Mike Taylor looking to maintain some of the character of the original flagship store. The cafe features cement and breeze block walls, counters and floors, as well as a steel and natural wood wrapped interior beneath a raw and exposed ceiling with visual arts. The space echoes the aesthetic of the store while adapting new features such as bi-folding windows and doors, a dedicated working table and an outdoor area inspired by the concept of creating a quiet space with its surrounding environment in mind.
The menu offers a rotating combination of organic meats and dairy alongside fresh seasonal dishes of various styles including Thai, Italian, Portuguese, British and Japanese fusions. For the coffee and subsequent accoutrements, amongst few cafe features a familiar traditional name in premium organic fair trade coffee sourced directly from Ethiopia’s Kaffa province and locally roasted in the UAE.
